One District, One Author
The Plymouth Education Foundation is proud to be able to fund the One District/One Author program under the direction of the Plymouth Public Schools English Language Arts Department.
Started during the 2023-24 school year, the PEF funded a Community Family night for elementary students which presented a program by author Peter Reynolds. Prior to the event, the PEF, along with the Plymouth Kiwanis, supported events in each of the eight elementary schools by providing books. Each school celebrated the author in a variety of ways, culminating with the Family Night.
During the 2024-25 school year, author Kate Messner was contracted to present virtual meetings across the elementary schools, funded by the PEF. Schools were able to interact with the author and learn about her works. This was made possible by the support of the Plymouth EDTV staff, with books again being donated by the Plymouth Kiwanis and the Plymouth Education Foundation.
The Plymouth Education Foundation Board voted in May of 2025 to continue to fund the One District, One Author program in the future giving students a unique opportunity to interact with authors and foster a love of reading!
